USC, Auburn, who cares? January 15, 2005, 6:31 am

by Lee Doble
When you get past the natural fan base of alumni and local fans and the need of sports writers to have something to talk about, who cares who is #1 in Division 1A Football?
Certainly not many readers of a column supposedly golf related. Is the author an Auburn grad? or a grad of a SEC school?
Until college football finally joins the rest of college sports and pro sports and comes up with a tournament to pick #1, I don't, and would rather spend my New Year's Day, which now with the ridiculous BCS system is extended to four days, playing golf and reading about it.
